Hi lovelies! Here's my latest project...

Watercolor petal necklace, inspired by this designer necklace by Lanvin below. It's $450!

Picture via nordstrom.com

Supplies! Faux white flower, watercolor paints, paintbrush, chain, jump rings and connector gems...

I took apart the petals from the flower; I ended up using 9.

Then I painted them, deeper blues on top with hints of green on the bottom.

Pierced holes in them using the blunt end of a needle.

Added the gems then connected the petals to the chain.

Done! I'm so ready for spring, if you couldn't tell.

yours is nicer, you picked a more expensive looking jewel, i love seeing things people have copied for much less and better, i spend so much time in shops thinking "i could make that myself better" and never get around to it!! :-)

What did you use to seal it? Water color in the rain (Seattle here!) makes a white dress sad (I was going to say blue, but... Cheesy)

What did you use to seal it? Water color in the rain (Seattle here!) makes a white dress sad (I was going to say blue, but... Cheesy)

I was kind of wondering that too. I bet sealing it would make the holes less likely to fray or rip too. But I don't know what you could use that wouldn't smell very strong? I wonder if acrylic or fabric paint would work well too. Or maybe buying flowers that are already in the colors you want. You might even be able to cut out petal shapes from cloth and use them. But it might not give you the nice variation in tones color that way.

But overall very pretty! If I get around to making this, I think I will try adding a layer of contrasting colored longer petals as well to try to make it look more dramatic.
