I'm sure you've heard of pop tab bracelets.  Pop tab bracelets are a lot of fun for kids to make and easy enough for my DS who is 6.
My mother taught my DD (9) DS (6) and me to make the shiny bracelets using pop tabs during a crafty playdate.
This is a great recycling project as is--but we made it much more fun.
My DD cannot wear jewelry to school.  But she is allowed to wear headbands.  So we made an extra long pop tab bracelet and glued it to a headband.

The result was much cuter than the bracelets and way more practical for our family.
To make the project even easier we made a headband on a wide piece of elastic.  We simply wove the pop tabs on the front then back of the elastic until we had enough to go from ear to ear.  This one looks very cute, works well to hold the hair back and is very comfortable.

we did one on a ribbon, too.

We are currently trying to collect enough pop tabs to make this project with my Brownie Troop.

I didn't write out how to make the actual pop tab bracelets since there are so many pictorial sources already available.  Like this one-

This would be such a cool craft to do with Brownies.  They would defs enjoy it.  I think I might make this with younger sister Smiley

It hasn't seemed to pull her hair at all.

We put them in a bleach bath, then set them to dry in a tray.  They didn't dry fast enough so we put them in the oven on low.
