I teach Kindergarten.  I whipped up a few prototype suncatchers the kids will make in early February to give as gifts to their parent(s) for Valentine's Day.

The kids will put a paper heart down under the base glass to use as a guide for placing the red pieces of tumbled glass ontop.

I placed a clear piece underneath their base piece so I could fire a wire loop in between to make the hook for hanging.

They measure 3.75 inches square.

Very nice!  I taught kindergarten last year and would never dream of doing this with my class!  I had 20 rowdy kids, full day, with no aide---no way would we play with glass!  (Don't get me wrong- we did paper mache, lots of painting, and beadwork...).  Good luck!  Let us know how they come out!

It actually went well. I run a tight ship! - The kids had tumbled glass in bowls on the table.  They used tweezers to select the pieces and placed them on the base glass.  I used WHITE RAIN Hairspray to hold the glass down for transit home to fire in the kiln.

It sounds daunting, but the kids do remarkably well.  This is the fifth glass project we have done and we have yet to have someone get cut or abuse the supplies.

I highly recommend it!
