Ragboard is a type of matboard made from cotton fibers rather than paper or wood pulp.  You can find it at art supply or framing shops.  I only used it because I had it on hand.  You can see it here (although they call museum board.)

Actually, everything I used for that purse were things I already had in my stash.  I decided I wanted to make it Sunday morning, and all the fabric stores were closed.
