I worked on this skirt with the intentions of wearing it on Valentines Day...and I did, but only just.  I had to babysit my nephew several times over the weekend, so it kept getting delayed.  I worked on it Valentines Day and finished at 7pm.  I was very happy I got to wear it at all!!!!  The skirt is my own design, and I plan to make another one like it.  My sister has already requested one.  Cheesy  I'm wearing it here with the t-shirt I put together for Valentines last year...you can't see it but there's a tattoo style heart on the sleeve with "John 3:16" written on it.

It has POCKETS!!! I love pockets in my dresses and skirts.

(my husband made me laugh again)

The waist laps in a "V" with the buttons.  I wanted an exposed zip and was rushed for time, so I basically stitched a looooooong button hole (with no top), laid the zip over it, stitched it down, then cut open the "button hole".  It worked really well and was so fast, nothing is unraveling.  I wanted the waist to hold its shape and not wrinkle up, so I have a double layer of ducking sandwiched inside there.  It is great...like wearing a belt.  I am so pleased with my "Valentines Skirt" and was told by said sister that I swish and dance as I walk when I'm wearing it (I wore it grocery shopping yesterday and that's when she made the comment).

If you can't do it with duck tape...it can't be done!

That's very cute! I might have to make myself a skirt like that some day. The V buttons on the back look cute. Smiley

Cute! Love the buttons and the skirt, and that you look like a beautiful peacock!

It's funny that you mentioned the exposed zipper- Burdastyle just featured a technique to put them in. I would love to see the shirt!

Oh, and in the first pic I totally wanted to see you to stand in the middle, as a peacock. Just sayin'. Smiley

It's really cute! My teen daughter would love it--she has a tiny waist and likes to show it off without wearing "slinky" clothes, and this would work well!

I wish I could see the J3:16 tattoo! I'm sure it's great, too!

Thanks everybody.  Sorry I didn't scoot a bit over for the peacock effect.  Cheesy Glasstapper-I bought the fabric at JoAnns.  Baloo-The "tattoo" heart is VERY simple, but I like it and maybe I can update with a pic showing it off (but I'm not making any promises).
