This is cool - they would make good fitness snacks for grownups too!  Have you tried anything like honey for a sweetener? I'm trying to find ways to use unusual grains I've picked up here and there - and stuff rich in fiber and Omega-3 like flaxseeds. I am concerned whether the sweetened milk might be too sugary for me as I'm on a kick to lose weight and hopefully prevent becoming diabetic (I'm insulin resistant). Well, I might do some tweaking to this and report back! Thanks again!

Well I attempted these tonight but they were only a partial success. I think I put them in too small of a pan so they were too thick and didn't cook as much as they should have. The ones on the edges were ok but everything in the middle crumbled. I'm not too tore up about it though as I'm going to stick them in a bowl, pour some cold almond milk over it, and call it granola cereal. Delicious!

I subbed some of the oats for rice crispies, did half almonds and half walnuts, sunflower seeds, and half raisins and half dried cranberries. yum!

I'm in the process of making some, which I don't think I would have managed without Stillatthetop's help.  The boyfriend loves honey and oat granola bars and when she broke down the recipe into wet and dry with the ratio it really clicked for me.  Using one can evaporated milk (It's the same as unsweetened condensed milk) and 1 cup of honey, with six cups of oats, it tastes pretty good. (Of course I can't wait to try it!)  We'll see how they bake up in about an hour. =]

I'm making some right now for my mate.  Its mostly just nuts cause hes picky.  I'm going to change it abit as I go with each tasting.  I hope to find a perfect match for him soon.
