I'm still searching for a nice hair stick to go with this (chopstick = way too long). Once I find (or make) a nice stick I'll add some pictures of this buckle actually in my hair.

What a lovely idea!  
I have used a pencil sharpener on the end of a dowel before. Then you have to smash the sharp tip to blunt it a bit and sand smooth.
