OK here is just the pattern for the shorts i understand that it is very confusing looking, but please stick with me and i'll do my best to explain.

here are the basic patterns (just so the complicated ones make sense once you see them)

(front)

(back)

(front)

the blue lines shows that directly above it by 9 1/2 inches should be a notch,

that was just to give you a kind of knowledge to how far it should be.

(back)

by the way, for the back the blue line is showing that it is 10 1/2 inches

each single notch is 1/4 of an inch

and each double notch is 1/2 an inch.

If you can figure these out then i will write up the instructions, but if you dont get it then i dont really know what to do to help you

I am in the middle of making some pj shorts right now and I'm definately stuck. I made some pj pants last year and I just cut off most of the leg part of the pattern to make shorts..... anyway I cut out the four pieces, 2 fronts, 2 backs. Then I sewed the inner leg seams like it said to, front to back. Then I sewed the crotch with right sides facing together like the pattern said to but now that I look at it it looks very distorted:

It looks like the waist is going to be very wide and the legs look small, did I do something wrong? I'm so confused and I dont remember how I made the pj pants last year!! HELP ME PLEASE!!!

It looks like you sewed a back to a back and a front to a front.

I'd take out that stitch and try sewing it the opposite way, back to front, back to front.  You could always just throw a draw string in the waist if it's too big.
