I was thinking of a tube o'fleece, myself!
But I like your way better. That way their little hineys would stay warm.

I was in the Girl Scouts when I was a kid, and on camping trips I took my dad's old mummy bag. One trip I woke up and my head was at the foot of the bag and my feet were sticking out the face hole. I have no idea how I ended up backwards..but maybe, I'm 1/2 doxie! I didn't know I had any German in me at all tho...
Ha ha!! Such a cute story, suereal

I'm sure they would love a tube of fleece too! They just love anything they can crawl inside
.
I made a tericloth lined one tonight and took pics along the way. I'll post some in process shots so you can how I did it. They are so fast and easy to make. It took me 45 min from fabric selection to final photo shoot

Thanks so much for the tutorial!! I can't wait to get started on one.... we have a newish (she came to us in July) Doxie baby who has a habit of stealing all the blankets and taking up a lot of room in bed... But we love her!!! Now I just need to find some super cuddly material...

I wish I had thought of this when our Whippet was still alive, those long bony legs would have been kept nice and warm. Whippets love to cuddle and crawl under blankets. She ended up wearing a child's "T" shirt for the last few years of her life. I think the idea is wonderful. Well done.

Yep! That sounds just like a doxie! Stealing blankets and taking up more space in the bed than humans. I hope you decide to make one. They are super easy!
Regarding the internal fabric, I think something like flannel would work well. I used tericloth for one because it will be used for post bath time. Fleece would also work but when you're sewing all of the pieces together some parts do get a little bulky and your sewing machine might choke a bit

I'm sorry to hear you lost your baby. I love Whippets - they are such sweet little creatures.

This is adoreable. My doxie would love one of these, especially if I could somehow adhere it to myself so he could be attached to me while I work on projects of do other things

Your doxie is so cute! I also made something very similar to what you're describing...
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=318333.msg3668073#msg3668073
. We now have at least 3 or 4 of these shirts around the house. The doxies love them too.
