My son's teacher challenged her class to make fun and creative Valentine's boxes this year.  My son came up with the thought of having an interactive box that spoke to you when you opened it and from that idea Verne the Valentine monster was born.

He is made out of a Nike shoe box and is covered in red mylar.  His hair is a three pack of cork ribbon bows from the dollar store, his eyes are a foam ball cut in half, painted, and with large google eyes hot glued on.  His teeth are repurposed from a tag board poster my son had made.  His arms and legs are dollar store wired ribbon with hearts that my son cut out for his hands and feet.   To make the box interactive, he had the idea to tape a talking greeting card to the inside of the box.  Everytime it was opend the monster would talk to the person delivering the Valentine.

My son and I loved making this project together and he won the most creative box award.  Smiley
