Looking for a super simple child's cami pattern

Here are 2 samples of what I'd like. The first link is to a knit one. Only I'd like to do it in crochet and in child's size of course.

The second one is a crochet tube top. I can add straps myself to make it a cami. I'd just like to know what type of stitch it is.

It does basically look like a tube top made out of alternating 2dc blocks but done so that the rows go vertically rather than horizontally. So basically like making a scarf long enough to sit around the torso and then seeming it up.

As far as pattern wise, the closest I can think of it filet crochet, like (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2593/3735299848_213fde88b3.jpg), but done with 2 stitches instead of 3, so you end up with something like below, where each | is one dc.
