So, here is the item i made for my partner, who unfortunately was not able to complete the swap. Hopefully she'll like it when she receives!

Her favorite episode was Arcadia, where Mulder and Scully go undercover as newlyweds in a gated community to investigate a couples disappearance. Her favorite scene was Mulder watching over the flamingo yard stake he planted as bait for the garbage monster.  Grin

I made her a pink flamingo from polyclay (one of the very few times I've worked with this stuff):

And even though this was a "one tiny thing" I felt like just the flamingo wasn't enough, and had the idea of making it more of a mini shadow-box. So, here's the inside of the box:

The outside of the box:

Sorry it's so blurry. The outside is just painted, with some cross stitched color on the lid and a ribbon around the top. Kinda plain so I decided to add something to the outside and made this pin out of felt and seed beads:

And one more of the flamingo inside the box:

Once again, sorry for the horrible photo quality- I was recently given a new camera but by then I'd already sent my package out. The box was one of the unfinished paper mache objects from Michaels and was about 3 inches, so the flamingo and pin were made to fit.

Also- very happy to have MizzKodak as my swap angel- and I'll have a nice camera to post photos when I receive! Hurray!

That is just adorable, when_im_sixty4.  Any 'Arcadia' lover would love that.  I love that scene when Mulder puts out the flamingo and kicks the mailbox post to make it slant.

I'm so glad you liked the pin! I was quite happy with it, and kinda sad to see it go! Here's a quick run-through on how the pin was made:

The pin is felt, craft glue, seed beads and thread. I 'borrowed' an image of the "X" from the internet  Wink, enlarged and printed it and used it as a pattern for the black felt. (The black felt was the stiffened kind with glitter. Yay, glitter! Cheesy ) Then I glued that down to some green felt, made a few small stitched to really hold it down, then cut around the X to create a border with the green. Beaded the green felt around the X as close to the edges as possible, then glued a second peice of green to the back (cut to fit the shape) to cover all the ugly stitching. I think I sewed/glued the pin back to the second peice of green first so I could hide those stitches, too... Then to secure the two layers of green felt, I whip-stitched the edges with matching green thread.

Whew! Hope that made sense. I didn't sit and plan out the whole thing, just kind of winged it as I went along. Probably why I was so shocked at how it turned out.  Roll Eyes

I have a friend who is an Aggie fan, and was thinking of making her a beaded pin of the A&M logo out of white and maroon felt and beads.  Smiley

Does that mean you sewed on all the beads!?

I bet your friend would love an A&M logo pin...heck, if this pin is any indication, you should open an etsy shop and sell these!

So, here is the awesome cross stitch my swap angel, MizzKodak, sent me!

Isn't he adorable?  Grin He reminds me of a project I did in High School art class, which was also an xfiles inspired craft! My apologies for the delay in posting photos- and for the photo quality. I'm starting to think my bad pictures are my fault, not the camera...  Roll Eyes

Oh, and by the way... it glows in the dark!! Sweet.  Cool I tried to take a picture of that, but my camera couldn't pick it up. But trust me, it looks great. His eyes and mouth and the frame all glow and otherworldly green and I love it.

>hugs< MizzKodak! Thank you for being my swap angel!
