So this is my very first adventure into sewing & reconstruction! Yay! Anyway, this is what I started with:

Sorry for the terrible picture. I only have a cell phone camera right now.  Sad Anyway, it was a tunic length button up. I loved it when I first bought it, but it just doesn't fit into my style right now, so I decided to shorten it to a regular length shirt. I've never used my sewing machine, except on two unfinished handbags, so the hem ended up being crooked & I forgot the fact that it goes out a bit at the hips.

(ignore that thread hanging down there hehehe)

You can see the way it pops out really well in the last picture. I was thinking of maybe adding darts in the back, or a tie. I have no clue how to do darts, but then again, I had no idea how to hem a shirt either! What do you all think?

Looks good! and almost identical to the first shirt I ever altered, which was yesterday!  Did you hand sew it? or machine?

Machine. I am WAY too impatient to do sewing by hand.  Grin
