I hope this is in the right place, feel free to move to the right thread if I've got it wrong - I was going on end result, not the initial project
Well, I started to make a pair of sweater boots - I was so very good, I printed the tutorial, laid all my materials out in an orderly manner, made a nice cup of coffee and set Kirsty Allsopp up on 4od, was all set to go, and it all went out of the window...
1) Got carried away and ignored instructions
2) Jumper sleeves were too tight for my legs
3) Glued the jumper to the sole, to my finger, to my thumb, to the jumper I was wearing (it was a sight to behold!!)
And lo, the fruits of my labours...
They looked just like the pictures in the tute...
So, in true Lozzie style, I went and had a fag, and a bit of a sulk, then I came back at them craftster style! I advanced with my trusty crochet hook and a couple of balls of pink wool, and here is the end result!!
Much more impressed now, and they are sooooooooo squishy and comfy!
Top view (with obligatory ass shot of fat lad - he likes them too!)
Side view - really hard to take pics of your own feet!
Close up of crocheted roses
I used my sewing machine to sew round the raw edges of the jumper, and then trimmed it right down, and crocheted into the knitted stitches round by the sole, using hdc's all the way round. I then built it up slowly, shaping the toes with a bit of decreasing, and then built up the leg bit, finishing it off with a puff stitch on the turn over bit at the top.
I made a big and a little rose for each one, and sewed them on.
They look a bit odd, but they're only slippers, so no 'outsiders' will ever see them.
All c's and c's welcome, but be kind - they nearly pushed me over the edge!!
Thanx for looking!!
