I only learned to knit about a month ago, and I decided to take a stab at cables! I had a stash of chunky yarn lying around and I figured it was time for a new scarf. I used Kiersten Brandt's Backbone Bookmark Pattern (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/backbone-bookmark) and thought it would look awesome as a scarf. I used size 11 needles and the scarf ended up being a good 6" across. It's Perfect! Not bad for my first stab at cables! I also wasn't sure if I liked my yarn choice after I started knitting with it, but it's really starting to grow on me.  I used two skeins of Premier Yarn's Serenity Chunky Yarn and it's super soft and warm  Cheesy

Thanks!  Smiley

It's amazing how yarns can be dyed and calculated to break up so evenly.

I thought I had commented here (maybe somewhere else?).  I have copied this pattern, to print when I next get a free printer. Can hardly wait.
I DO have chunky yarn - in a solid colour - that I'm sure will look almost as good as yours.
Great work!
