I've cut up some cotton fabrics for a quilt top...Brick by Brick is the pattern.  It is 4"x 7 1/2" blocks.
In my color scheme I've found some chintz fabric that would go really nicely...but will it affect the end product if I add it in??  It seems to be a much sturdier fabric than the others and I'm not sure how it will quilt up.

Should I save it for another project?  Any help would be Really Apprciated!
thank you...=]

Chintzed cotton has a layer of wax on the top, which makes the fabric shiny and slightly stiff. I would try to pre-wash the fabric in hot water (with a little detergent and no softener) to see if you can remove the chintz finish. It might get less heavy and stiff feeling and then can work better with your other fabrics. Hope this helps!

Oh...I never knew that about chintz...thank you for the tips on washing and preping it!  I've set it aside for right now and am going though my fabrics and finally getting them organized...after a move, and will see what I have first.   If I need to, I'll get it worked into the project.  I'm heading out to a quilting retreat weekend and there will be a quilt store right next door... Grin

I appreciate your time and help! Happy stitchin'!
