I have two (actually, um... five) friends who are expecting, and one has a shower on Saturday, so I needed to get something made quickly!  Thus these two hats... I'll be making another for a little girl soon.  I made both of these yesterday.

This one was a compilation of three different patterns: one for the base of the hat, one for the brim, and one for the flower.

A newborn monkey hat... it turned out so cute!  I used a soft brown cotton.  I modified the ears a bit so they wouldn't be complete circles as the pattern suggested (yes, to me, patterns are suggestions!)  Smiley

Enjoy!  I've started looking for new patterns...

Hmm, not tutes, but I can tell you where I found patterns:

the white hat: used Bernat pattern "softee baby hat-- crochet" for the heat part, this pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cheri-hat for the brim, and spring daisy C from http://www.freecraftunlimited.com/crochet-flowers-1.html for flower.

monkey hat: you can find here: http://easymakesmehappy.blogspot.com/2010/12/free-crochet-pattern-monkey-hat.html.  I modified the ears because I didn't want them to be round: instead of 16 stitches, I ended at 14 on the last two rows.  Also, I did the first two rounds of the ears in the contrasting color.

Aw! The baby monkey hat is adorable! I love it. Great job on the girls hat as well. I like to mix and match patterns as well. It always give it a special touch to me.
