Steamed bread rolls

I just wanted to post a pic of the 'char siu bao' that I made yesterday - not the most authentic recipe since I used lamb instead of pork, but the principle of steamed bread roll plus sweet/salty/spicy filling is the same! I saw a pic of a 'pig' roll on a blog I follow and thought I'd give it a go - not perfect but cute I think - and tastes good too!

that is so cute , and I love those things they are really good , one of my fave buffets used to have them ( not cute lil piggys of course) but then they stopped making them

Steamed bread rolls is prefect breakfast of me because it seems very heavy breakfast so I can able to remain empty for 4 to 5 hours without taking any food. So it is perfect breakfast because I have to go outside from my office for the meeting and because of that my lunch timings are not fix.

Hm, I hadn't thought of them for breakfast Maybe I'll make some with more breakfast-y fillings!

Anna - it's just red food colouring kneaded into some of the dough. The red has just about come off my skin now...

This is so cute!! I'm tempted to make a bunch of piggy bread rolls and try to serve them to my family, but i think they'd assume I'd gone mad! Unfortunately they're not very adventurous eaters

I really like the idea of decorating the bun with some color.

I've been wanting to try some with vegetarian fillings like red bean curd or something based on mushroom and onions, since my daughters don't really like the bbq pork (which I have loved for years). So I could make both and put a little lotus flower or something on the veggie ones so we know which is which.

OMG!! I LOVE char siu!! you HAVE to let  me know how you make this..I'm dying here since I havent found any sticky buns either :/
