I'll look into replacing the glass.  We have a triple pane, and two of the panes are broken so I'm not sure how it would work, but it's definitely worth some research.  I'd rather not pay hundreds of dollars if I dont have to.

Oh...sorry. Ours is three panes, too--one on the outside, one in the middle, and then the one that goes inside the oven. Neither of us can remember how many we had to replace, but I think I had trouble picking which one we needed--so maybe they're ALL available online? I sure hope so!

I cant even find the model number-- but I'll be looking to see if the middle pane is replaceable too, if we can do it ourselves, and what the cost is going to be like.  Fingers crossed it's less than a completely new one!

I'm sure you've looked there, but just in case...to see our number, I have to open the door and look around the edge of the door. It was on the right-hand side on a little metal plate, on the part that is only an inch or so thick. (Sorry. Brain dead. Language fails me.)

Good luck!!!

I've had that happen to me and my mom when we were cooking. it wasn't even cold in the house, as it happened in the spring time (we had the A/C off, all windows wide open) and we took it out of the oven, and set it on the stove (which was off), and we all went to the living room (waiting for it to cool down) and we heard something that resembled those action movie scenes where something glass is blown up. it scared us! I'm glad nobody was hurt in your house though, I hope everything ends up well!

We had this happen to us too!  We had made lasagna and had taken it out to cool and it seemed not even 5 minutes later it sounded like a firecracker had gone off. Thank the gods that we weren't directly in the kitchen because one of us could have gotten seriously hurt.  It took us hours to clean and there is still sauce stains on the ceiling. I have since then gotten rid of all the glass bakeware just in case.

I sorry to hear about your oven but glad that no one was seriously hurt.

On the ceiling? Good grief. Any of you get a response from the companies making this bakeware?

Wow! I can't believe the damage that caused! Thank goodness no one was hurt.

I think I'd cry if that happened to my oven.

No response yet. Of course, it's only 9 am, my time, on a Monday morning..... not that I'm impatient or anything!  I'd be interested to hear what other people's experiences with the company were like.

I remember my mom telling me that this can happen with different temperatures. And sudden temp changes, and the glass can loose its holding and or stability after years of use.
When I use my glass dishes I put it in a cold oven and it heats with the oven, that way I don't loose dishes.
Its terrible that happened though. Undecided

I just had a thought:  I live fairly close to a military base that has artillery going off constantly.  I wonder if the daily rattling weakened the glassware.  Honestly, the KABOOMs are bad enough to knock pictures off the walls at times-- maybe the rattling stressed the glass?  It didn't have any cracks or anything, but I wonder if it was structurally weakened....
