I made myself a lobster costume for Halloween this year out of some red flannel fabric (I don't have any pictures right now - but if I can find them I'll try and put them up too). I had just about a yard left afterwards - so, several months later, I decided to make this dress with what was left over. I used some semi-sheer, lace-y, gingham-like fabric for the peplums and sides of the bodice, and crafted the pattern for the bodice from another dress. I'm quite happy with the result, although I've no where to wear it. It'd make a lovely holiday party dress - but alas, all of the "holiday" parties I end up at aren't quite so classy. If I had a hot date it would make for a pretty swell valentines day getup too I suppose. I'd love to hear what you all think! Sorry I don't have any action shots!

Cute!  I really like the ruffle detail.

Great use of spare fabric! I had to look hard at the photo before I figured out what you had done. At first glance it looked like you used lacy sleeves but they are folded down in front  Cheesy
