Pit Bull Portrait- Colored Pencil

Hi Everyone,

So I just wrapped up a portrait of a Pit Bull for someone that I know. (I'm still waiting to hear back from her and I'm really hoping she likes it.). Her dog was dress up for a contest and she wanted to have a portrait of him in the outfit. It wasn't my first time creating a portrait of a dressed up dog, but my first drawing camouflage! I would love to hear some feedback, especially before I post it on facebook.



This is a close up of the face.



The size  is 11x14 on Somerset paper, I only used Prismacolor pencils and Art Stixs for this.

good work did you use a blending stump or the prismacolor blending pencil to get them smooth blends? and i think if you tossed a little more white highlights on the lip and mouth area it will give it more of a wet look. =D

Thanks guys! I was considering going back in to add some more white highlights in the mouth. They're not as predominant in the scans as they are on the drawing, so I think I might go back in and work on them a bit.

bonesaw, I used a icarnus drawing board (http://icarusart.net/products.html) and I layered the blue tones on the cold side and in the warm side I blended with a paper stump or Colour Shapers (clay shaper?). I move the areas back and forth from the cold and warm side to blend the areas.  I've heard of people using hair dryers to heat the wax and force the area to bloom as well.  Before I had the board, I was able to just keep burnishing layers with art stixs to get the backgrounds like that, but it was several hours. Even with the heat from the board, the background was at least 6 hours.
