When I recently saw an article in Country Living magazine about creating an embroidered portrait, I was instantly entralled.  They looked like lovely line drawings!  Using a straight pin, the technique is to poke holes in paper using a photocopy of a favorite photo as a guide.  Then, lines are made by connecting the dots together by stitching through the holes.

I consider this a practice try, as I want to get a better quality paper suitable for framing as a gift for my sister.  But the technique proved fun, and I definitely will be creating a better one soon!

This is so nifty! I would love to do this with the kids. I think they'd like the idea of sewing on paper and if it was a simple enough design be able to do it themselves. What a fun gift for them to give someone! I'd make some too of course Wink.
