So I just got a dress form for my graduation and it has been sooooooo helpful. I've needed one for such a long time. Anyways, I've been collecting clothes from thrift stores for a while thinking, "I can do something with this one of these days." And finally I had an epiphany about these long boardshorts from Old Navy and this nautical looking old lady dress.

I chopped off the waistband of the shorts and chopped off the skirt of the dress I had. I gathered the skirt and applied it to the waistband. Then made suspenders from the leftover shorts fabric, added a couple buttons to make them detachable or criss cross and voila! Also, I added a zipper in the back because in order to gather the skirt, I had to make the waistband tiny. Overall, I like the end result. Smiley

Front:

Back (because the waistband is so small, the skirt wouldn't zip all the way on Lila, my form):

Thoughts?

Oh my gosh! That is SO adorable!  Believe me, I am completely jealous.  I would definitely want that if I saw it in a store  (I don't sew).

Thank you! It feels good to be validated sometimes.  Cheesy

I'm not really sure what to wear with it, though. Got any suggestions?
