That's awesome.
I would love to see it if he gets the stamps.

I use cookie stamps, if that helps!

My dad--when I told him about this "discovery," said "It's simple to make butter, but it's hard, especially when you're chopping your own wood and growing the rest of your food...and when it's ELBOW GREASE and not an electric mixer doing the work!"" (He's of the opinion that THESE are the "good old days!")

Sounds like a pretty easy process.  Thank you for sharing.  I'm definitely going to have to try this.

I asked my folks--in their late 70s--about churning.

Dad (second youngest of 15, apparently his job was churning while the others worked the field until he got big enough to join them as the older ones married off?) said that you might want to watch antique shops for a churn that is clear glass with a little paddle inside.

A quick search came up with the name "Dazey churn" and this image: http://images.cloud.worthpoint.com/wpimages/images/images1/1/0507/04/1_010427b5ca5e469a29315e5aef3f8774.jpg

He's used both and says this one is easier to clean easier to use than the up-n-down kind. I've seen them around, and now I feel the need to purchase one, if only for display!

If you have a spare $106, Amazon has this: http://www.amazon.com/Paderno-World-Cuisine-Fresh-Butter/dp/B001HL0I9Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1297011241&sr=8-1
