I've been meaning to post this for awhile.

So, my best friend is finally having a baby after 7 years of trying to conceive. She was on her 4th and final IVF attempt and finally got the news she was praying for!

She and her husband are already kids at heart. They take annual vacations to Disney and have their house decked out with disney collectibles in every room.

When they finally started on the nursery, obviously the theme was Disney. Daddy is an artist and hand-painted a lot of the baby room with our favorite Disney characters and hidden Mickeys.

I was inspired by his creativity and their love of all things Disney and I set out looking for the perfect Disney knit.

I came across these chartshttp://www.breienmetplezier.nl/Breipatronen/disney.htm and envisioned The Amazing Disney Blankey!

I lined the back of the blankey with flannel

My daughter modeling to show the size (It will cover a twin size bed so Baby will have the blankey for many years.

It was a huge hit at her baby shower this past weekend! Smiley

This is great! I thought it was going to be a needlepoint wall hanging from the thumbnail but a knit twin sized blanket makes this so much better! great job! and congratulations to your friend!

Let's take a look-see. Hate your hair. Not likely.

Thank you. I kinda had to teach myself intarsia...my first colorwork. Yeah, picked complicated for my first intarsia! LOL

I was laid off from my job and pretty much worked on this non-stop until the baby shower. I woke up and started knitting and fell asleep knitting. It took me a month to complete.

Thank you! I just got yarn for my next big project.

When my daughter saw this, she said she wanted one. Then she said to make her a Wizard of oz blanket. Ummmm yeah,,

Her birthday is in May and I'll be trying this. It's going to be more epic...more colors...more details...and I have to do the charts myself. It's going to be a serious challenge!

This is too awesome! I am a Disney Freak! We also go to Fla about twice a year or more if we can to visit my main mouse! LOL
Also, I had to comment that for your first Intarsia it is amazing! I have not knit in so long I am just picking it up again and I actually am feeling intimidated by a lot of things I am not overly familiar with... dpn's, intarsia, faggoting, and more... I guess I should also just jump in and take the plunge on a challenging project and see how I do after all this time!
Thx for the chart link btw! I saved to my fav's!

You should! Just jump in head first! You will probably be amazed at how easy everything really is. If anything kinda stumps you...do a search on youtube - there are a bazillion training videos. I was so confused by "twist the yarns" for intarsia until I watched youtube. It's basically just laying one color over the other. "Twist" just doesn't seem like the right word!!!!

I messed up Minnie (the first one I did) and it's noticeable if I point it out. Otherwise, I was pleased with it.
