I decided, with the encouragement of my friends, to try my hand at paper piecing. I had all the tools, so armed with a free pattern from here: http://artisania.wordpress.com/free-patterns/ I set to work.

The first attempt was trashed after about 10 minutes, but after watching a helpful vid on you tube I started getting it. I made this little mug rug to giveaway on my blog. For my first go at paper piecing I'm pretty happy.

Here is a close up of the added french knot eyes and little felt beard.

This is so cute! Great job. I'm sure quite a few small paper piece patterns would lend themselves to mug rugs. Smiley

That mug rug is so cute Smiley
You know I have a complete and total weakness for gnomey goodies!
I have to ask - how is it that you only have a handful of replies here and there are almost 300 comments on your blog?!  So not fair - I think you should have double the number of replies here as you do on a blog!

I have to admit that I have had that gnome - along with a slew of other pp'd projects on my to do list for a long time.  I think you might have just inspired me to get off my crochet chair for a little bit  Shocked
