I painted this Earth Goddess for the One World One Heart blog event (Jan 31 - Feb 17).

She is mostly water soluble crayon, with some colored pencil, graphite pencil, acrylic pearl paint, and ink.  The heart is a collage of bits of a page from a vintage Dutch edition of Jane Eyre.  When I wrapped it on to trim it, I rather liked the way it looked wrapped over the bottom, so I kept it there Tongue

(glare from flash making wooden frame base stand out)

I learned a LOT in the making of this piece.
I learned that acrylic gel medium should NOT be used as a sealant over watercolor crayon.  It ate the paint and it came off in sticky chunks.  I had to scrape off her WHOLE face (and then the rest of her body to match), and repaint it all.  The shading did not turn out as well this second time, but this is still the final result which I am reasonably happy with.

I think that is so beautiful!  As far as lessons go, you will always learn a few with mixing mediums, but its good nothing happened you couldn't fix.  The face, the hair, the collage heart...  everything looks well planned and wonderfully executed.

Thank you all Smiley
She was a learning experience, and one that I hope to move forward with. I can't wait to work on my next piece (yes, AlwaysInspired, after I finish your stuff Tongue )
