I made this hat for Striker923 for the Legend of Zelda swap.

It's a hat that comes to life in the form of a bird named Ezlo, from the video game Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap.

I drafted the pattern myself, and have received a lot of requests for it, so I've just added it at the bottom of this post!

Here it is (using one of my care bears as a head model):












And for reference, this is what Ezlo looks like:

-June 2012 Update-
I've gotten lots of requests for the pattern, so I'll just add it here. Let me know if you have questions about it!

Knit Ezlo Hat from The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap

Materials:
16 size 8 circular needle
Size 8 DPNs
Size 6 DPNs
Size G crochet hook
Bright lime green yarn
Small amount of yellow yarn
Small amount of black, white and bright lime green embroidery floss

Main hat:
Cast on 84 st on circ and join
K2P2 ribbing for 8 rows (84 st)
Knit 24 rows
(K5, K2tog) around (72 st)
Knit 7 rows
(K4, K2tog) around (60 st)
(K3, K2tog) around (48 st)
Knit 6 rows
(Note: switch to size 8 DPNs if at any point it gets too tight on the circular needle)
(K2, K2tog) around (36 st)
Knit 39 rows
(K1, K2tog) around (24 st)
(K1, K2tog) around (16 st)
(K1, K2tog) around (12 st)
cinch together

Ezlos head:
Use size 6 DPNs
From tip of hat, pick up 6 st and join (6 st)
Knit 1 row
Increase 1 st into each st (12 st)
Knit 1 row
Increase 1 st into every other st (18 st)
Knit 5 rows
(K2tog, K1) around (12 st)
Knit 1 row
(K2tog, K1) around (6 st)
Stuff and cinch up and finish off.

Ezlos plume:
Use size 6 DPNs
From middle of the back of his head, pick up 6 stitches in a circle (6 st)
Knit 1 row
Increase 1 st into each st (12 st)
Knit 1 row
Increase 1 st into every other st (18 st)
Knit ~12 rows
Stuff, cinch together and finish off.
Tack plume to his head so that it curves around.

Ezlos beak:
Use size 6 DPNs and yellow yarn
From middle of the front of his head, pick up 6 stitches in a circle (6 st)
Knit 4 rows
Increase 1 st in every other st around (9 st)
Knit 7 rows
(K2tog, K1) around (6 st)
Knit 4 rows
Stuff, cinch together and finish off.
Use a little extra yellow yarn and tapestry need to tack top and bottom together slightly to flatten beak.

Ezlos eyes:
Use size G crochet hook to crochet eyes.
With black thread, Ch2, sc 8 into 2nd loop from hook
Switch to white thread, sc into first 4 sc
Switch to bright green thread, sc into next 4 sc
Finish off.
Sew eyes to Ezlos head using white and green thread where appropriate.

Finishing:
Curve around Ezlos head and beak to the top/side of the hat and tack down with some green yarn.

This hat is totally awesome and full of win. I never actually played the game much, but when it first came out I knew I needed the hat. I wanted it desperately...then I forgot about it.

This post really just dredged up the unresolved need. I'm definitely hitting you up for the pattern.  Grin
