I drafted this bodice from my personal pattern sloper. Slopers are magical. Once you have one the whole world opens up to you! I liked the bodice (which was only a test piece on a scrap piece of fabric) so I franken-sewed it onto another 40s repro skirt I made last year. The red in the skulls match the skirt-red! How lucky. Color blocking is our FRIEND!

So this dress was born, cha ching!

It has a side zip. I started putting my zips on by hand using little tiny peck stitches in matching thread. You don't get that seam on the outside. You do have more control matching up the side seam. Yes, it does take twice as long. Hey, ya gotta try new things right?

Questions and comments welcome, and there's always more info on the blog  Kiss

Love the bodice fabric! And I love that you added the trim to the skirt, it really caught my eye. It looks great on you.  Smiley

Hi! A sloper is a pattern that you draw yourself from your own body measurements. (like your bust, waist, and hip measurement, plus shoulders, arms, neck and all the others) It has no seam allowances and it fits tight on you without any ease in it. You draft one up, and then make one in muslin (adding seam allowance). You try it on and make adjustments so it fits you like skin tight. when it's done right it ends up being a pattern version of your own body. You can take this pattern and add ease and make neckline and sleeve changes to design ANYTHING to fit you! Awesome right? Thanks for the hair compliment. I was going for a 40s look  Wink
