I got my first Feb card today! It is themed on anything Japanese from blupaisan, and I LOVE the technique that she devised for it - she replicated part of a Japanese print onto a bamboo background. So cool!

Isn't it great? The texture of the bamboo must have been so hard to paint on but really brings life to the card.

And suereal, I'm really glad that you liked your card! I thought you would from the little I found on your profile etc, but you never can tell until it is made and sent.
Keep up the amazing, everyone!

I just got two wonderful cards from suereal. the first is on my fox theme -

the back of the card explains what images were used in the 'collage' - a deep sea sponge, a squid, and a fish head!  Came out great!  Very novel. I am in love with the eyes...
Next for a surprise category, a zentangle cat-

I like the cat's position and the variety of colors.  The back indicates that it was done on 'elephant poo paper' about which i demand to hear more!!
thank you so much, suereal. i was having a dreadful day when these arrived and it perked me up.

Man, elephant poo paper is so neat! It has such a great texture, and proceeds from the selling of it go to elephant conservations. And yeah, it is made from the faeces of elephants.

I really dig the sea sponge section of the collage of that fox.

came back from errands to discover this gem in my mailbox -
from HoneyBee, on my red white and yellow theme

I remember studying Piet Mondrian in college and this could easily be straight off his easel!  I love it.  thank you so much, HoneyBee.

Firstly...elephant poop paper....

It's fun to work with as there are different finishes on each side. One is rougher and flattish, but has some natural imperfections. The other side was the platform the paper dried on, so it has a regular bumpy textrue to it. IT also tears really well. IT is kind of hard to tear, but it is easy to control, and leaves a pretty feathery edge.

Now on to the 3 envelopes I got today in the mail. Firstly,

this sweet little card is of blupaisen's kangaroo stuffie.  AND I got the super uber cool extra of a copy of a photo of her, the kangaroo, and her brother.  I am so going to make something arty with that!

Next....

This ever so charming Angler Fish, or "Lophius Piscatorius", is from dragonflyducky. IN general, I think it is nearly impossible to call an angler fish "Cute", but this one manages to be cute and slimy looking all at the same time. His little lure glows in the dark too!

and the third one..

This adorable card was part of a side swap with jessiben's 4 year old daughter.  I had seen her work on the kids ATC swap originally. She had drawn Raven, there wee black poodle. And I so wanted one for my collection.  I will eventually get all my poodle ATC's up on my poodle wall. Thanks so much Juliet!  I love it.

Thanks again y'all for the wonderful cards

I was the lucky recipient of one of Suereal's Elephant poo paper cards yesterday. This hand drawn beauty has a quote from a Canadian self esteem PSA of some sort.  I love the lady in all her disasterous plastic high maintenance "beauty"  Thank you :-)
