And a month later.... I've taken one small step.  Too much going on in the world, but I really want to get back into this -- I really enjoy the evenings I spend at the dining room table, playing with the colors and collage elements.

And as is appropriate, I discovered something about myself in the process of this page.  That is -- I really don't like pictures of myself.  This step was making the papper dolls to live in the house.  I kept hemming and hawing, looking for pictures of me, and planning more and more elaborate ways to do a paper doll of me -- without it being me.  Finally last night, I just sat down and made the dolls of my two cats, Franklin and Chloe.

And decided to just move on to the next page.  I'll come back and do a doll of me and maybe some neighbors later.  Or not.  I think my cats would be quite happy if they were living alone in the house!

And I also got a jump on the next page, gesso-ing and layering several colors, then filling the page with adjectives.  Hope to do more this week!

I got as far as finishing my neighbourhood thread, thought about making puppets, and decided to start posting about Xmas instead. I'll get back to it after the silly season.

Can we still join? I just read the link on the first post and this seems like something I'll really enjoy.

(consolidated two redundant posts!)
Come on in, modified -- we're all moving along at our own pace, and the more the merrier.
Look forward to seeing your stuff, april.  the fun of this is seeing all the different interpretations.
I like your neighborhood page, SilverMoon;  glad to see I'm not the only one who got stalled on the dolls.

Sat down last night with a few beers and an hour or so to work on Day 16 and 17 collage spreads -- next thing I know it's 2 in the morning!

Day 16 Collage pages 1-2:

Day 17 Collage pages 2-3:
I had a lot of fun with the idea of numbers.  I should warn you, tho -- when you follow the Frieda Kahlo tip to squirt a blob of acrylic paint on the page, then close the book -- open it up right away to let it dry.  May seem obvious, but it didn't occur to me.  Since I'd gesso'd the page, it didn't rip, but it pulled off all the great texture and design!

(This is actually two pictures; one of the left page and one of the right page.  If you look closely, there a two "spines" running down what looks like the middle of the picture.  Weird!)

Still want to add a bit more with different colors and metal foil on this spread, and I'm pondering my "meaningful words".
Off for a week to finish the holiday gifts, but will be back soon!

another late comer here! been scrapbooking/memory making for a few years (but not as often as I would like) and recently discovered smash booking, which I like, and I also, on occasion, keep a journal, write poetry etc, so this seems to combine every thing Smiley

Need to find something to use as a journal, but I will be back.

Oh! I want to try smash booking, but the smash books are so expensive over here, and international postage costs kill any difference in price buying them direct from USA (it's probably why they cost so much here in the first place)

Been stuck on finding regular time to journal, but I think things should calm down in a week or two.
