In September, for my birthday, my sister pimped some plain black ballet shoes. We use the shoes (in a sturdy black fabric) for warming-up, and sometimes dancing in our Irish dance lessons. We easily go through three to four pairs every year... My sister pimped mine, by stitching my name (Lies) on the tips. To letters on each toe.
Everyone loved, so I decided I could do the same. Dadly, my sister's name has five letters, and that makes it a bit long to stitch unto the shoes. Plus, the perfectionist in me wouldn't be able to deal with the fact that there are two letters on one toe, and three on the other *the utter horror*
Stencilling it was! Irish dance and all that, I used a plain stencil of a tiny shamrock, copied that 12 times, cut them all out (booooring!) and used emerald green and flashy silver to paint. I loved it, and so does my sister and the other dancers. Sis told me she would never throw them away, but I'd rather make them over and over again, because worn out ballet shoes, those ain't pretty.

Unto some pictures!

After a long time of cutting, and holding my breath! I still have to practise on making nice curvy cuts.

All stencils stickied unto the shoes (I don't have freezer paper, so I had to experiment), ready for some paint.

Green!

Silver! I loved working with this one! It covered up so nicely.

The result!

C&C welcome!

Great idea. I would love to do something like that to my shoes, 'cause sometimes I don't know whether they're mine o someone else's, and they look so boring!
