hello all! this is my first time posting on this board, certainly not the last.
i made this small quilt for our baby niece born dec 9. the fabrics on the top were my grandmother's/her mother's. she has given me a ton of fabric in small increments over the years. i hoard it like crazy, but a new baby is the perfect reason to share!
let's see, mostly cotton, the light floral is linen. the backing was an old pillowcase, washed and i think the gingham used to be grandma's curtains ::)the ruching on the borders was intentional, it's not super wrinkled or anything. store bought binding :/ really easy to use though. i know it's summery, but it was summer when i started it, plus she'll be in her prime baby-ness this spring. i really loved it even thought the quilting was wonky in the middle, it pulled, which is frustrating. her mom and dad seemed like they understood how special it is so yay.

close up, so you can see just how wonky it actually is:

sorry to ramble but a lot went in to this. thanks for looking! comments welcome as always!

So cute!  I love crafts that are functional (warm) and still sentimental (fabric from mom and grandma).  Very nice!

I love the ruching. I would have never thought of that for a quilt. I'll have to try it sometime. Smiley

Great job! It was your first quilt so be kind to yourself, its beautiful!
The baby won't see any of what you see as errors now will she? lol
You will have to make her a new one every so many years to show her how much you have learned and how good you can quilt by the time she marries!

Keep making people smile!

I love the use of family stash -- the quilts I have made from family stash are my most treasured pieces.  Your color combo is nicely vintage in feel as well.  Nice work!
