funny you mention bring your kid to work day.  I, as you all know, don't have kids and I'm not really the mothering type.  Today, I found out why.

They're like, hey, edie, you're crafty! (they said this Wednesday about noon btw) Thurs is bring your kid to work day! plan something for them! kids are from 7-14 AAAAAAAAAAAAND GO.

So I come up with the brilliant plan of fabric painted tshirts.  I went and got all kinds of paint and fabric pens and tshirts and stencils and then today, they put the kids at the picnic tables in the back and I was like uhhhh and then the 8 year old boys all took the paint and just... squirted paint all over their shirts, took brushes and rubbed it in and then started wrestling.  its like, one solid black/green/pink mess.  The girls were the ones in their teens and everything had to be so precise.  "IF THIS MESSES UP IM GOING TO KILL MYSELF!!!!!"  um. kid, its a tshirt.  it cost $3.  please don't kill yourself over a shirt.

i kept yanking paint out of the boys hands and then I sent them inside to wash their hands and stood outside the men's room like, uhhh, please don't kill yourselves in there.

I spent 2 hours with them -- mostly with the big kids as I sent the younger ones to watch movies and I was still freaking exhausted. I don't know how parents do it, and teachers are like saints, I think.

I came home and collapsed on the couch again.

Hehe, well Edie, that was unfair of those parents to spring all those kids with all those different age groups on you.  The younger ones really should have had a parent with them to see them thru the project.

I did a tie-dye shirt thing for my co-workers' kids and most of them didn't listen and ended up with tees that weren't very good.  One kid (a girl) decided to saturate her entire tee with all the colors and ended up with a brown mess.  Fortunately my daughter is a great tie-dyer so I know that it wasn't me.  Smiley

I hope you know that it wasn't you. Grin

Loving the jellyfish shirt.  Fantastic job.

I decided to return with more grief of my own. Cry Cry Cry  Paisley my Senegal parrot escaped Sunday.  If you recall I was off to visit my mom at the hospital last time I posted.  Well Paisley and I had been out on the back deck having our coffee.  I sat her on a swinging perch.  Next thing I know I had showered went to the hospital, came home and was getting ready to go have lunch.  I told the two dogs good bye went to kiss Paisley, and she was not in her cage.  This was 3 1/2 hours later.  I ran outside and she was gone.  Searched the whole neighborhood from 12 to 7:00 wolf whistling while riding around in my car which happens to be a red sky convertable.  Paisley always whistles back and I found her.  Way up in a tree she would not come down.  Long story short it has been 3 days now since I have seen her. I have been out everyday from the time I get off until dark cruzin and wolf whistling,  calling here kitty kitty, a favorite saying of hers, catching up with her but not able to coax her down.  I have been on roofs, bought waterguns, Nerf guns plastic PVC pipe to reach 30 feet and passed out numerous reward posters.  The kids and adults in the area have seen her around so now if they see her they will call.  She was at abus stop a few days ago and they heard her laughing in a tree but she would not come to them, they left her Cheerios and when the school bus left she flew down to get them.  I have offered a reward if they will call me when they see her and I can catch her.  I think if I can see her again she will come.  I have had her since 6 weeks and she is almost 9 years.  Mom went home on Thursday so life has been busy.

I will be hoping in the next round sometime.  I just have to get my life back together a little bit and no one wants a tear soaked claim!  I did get my last claim off and it should be arriving soon to missmoppet.  I also got a parcel from padfoot today and will try to post pictures of the wonderful stuff I received.

I haven't had AC upstairs in 3 days and it is getting fixed now.  It has been 88-90 and miserable up there!!  And to make things even worse - my BRAND NEW sewing machine had a part break off on it yesterday too!  Ugh, when it rains, it pours!

Way tooo hot to not have AC down there Mimi !!

What part broke on your new machine ? Sad I broke the upper knife on my serger about a month after I got it, irritates the crap outta me when something new breaks like that. I at least hope it's an affordable and easily replaced part.

It hasn't been too hot recently thank goodness!

It was the lever to raise/lower the presser foot!  I called today and they are sending me a new machine Smiley

That is super cool they are sending a new machine.  Would be even better if they let you keep them both.
Either way that is great.

QUAGGY, Nooo I am so so sorry!! I am sending thoughts your way and hope your feather baby comes home from her grand adventure. I am just sad for you as I know the feeling to have a pet run off. You keep your head high and thoughts are from all of us to you and your feathered baby to make a quick return home...

Did you contact the Animal Control, Local Media, etc they are all great resources to help out in this sort of thing..

I got my wire late yesterday from my FIL so was able to get my last 2 swaps to the PO today so I am glad to have that done after the week I have had gesh, BUT I am grateful to know that it will get taken care of and if our drama can prevent one of my friends from the same fate it was worth it I guess to teach me and you all a val. lesson Sad but it will be weeks but taken care of!!

Hooray for Mimi and getting a new machine! I am glad they are taking care of you...Now just to get the air back will be a treat! Makes me cringe to think of anyone in the south w/o air!!!

GIrls I am updating today and will be closing 69 and open 70 tonight Smiley I cant believe that is already on us all gesh where did April go?Huh

Thanks for all the prayers and concern.

Yes animal control came out with a 5 ft net and a bag of bird seed.  This gal is a junk food junkie, frenchfries chips etc.  The neighboor kids are passing out fliers and she has been spotted several times.  Been out this am since 6:00 am but no sign of her yet.  I am hopeful.  I live in a very large neighborhood and have met some wonderful people, all willing to help.

Will be posting pictures of my loot from padfoot later today, off to check on mom!!

Status update! Just thought I'd update where I am on my last two round 69 claims.

Due May 4th - redstar13 Still waiting on a damned component to arrive. I ordered over a week ago and I can't finish the piece without it, so hopefully, it'll make it here today so I can get working on it when I get home from work.

Due May 10th - missmoppet Got the Harry Potter scapbook paper. It's perfect! But...then the box I bought is too small. Bah. So I need to find a bigger box.
