Averia --I'm not sure really-- It was a slow start in the beginning. All my stitchings start off that way. I was also working on other small pieces and I hurt my thumb and needed time to heal (I tore something in my thumb playing with scissors). I picked it up just after Christmas and I was able to do it all this month. I'm a crazy fast stitcher!!!

Wow, this is gorgeous! I had to click to see what it was because I was sure it was a photograph! Your shading is amazing.

Belladune -- I have lots of needles!!! Most of the common colours were always threaded -- I use one of those plastic  storage boxes that have different sections. It does speed up stitching when you have more then one needle.

Can I ask you about this? I just started experimenting with trying to leave the thread hanging from the back when working with numerous small, colored sections, and was having a little difficulty keeping from picking them up with the "active" thread. Do you keep your unused colors hanging off the back of the work, or do you cut them and re-add them each time you need them?

Does this make any sense?

I usually stitch with a colour , tuck my stitches in and snip.
I know what you mean by leaving the threads in.... It was a hard piece to try this since so many colours looked the same. You want to leave the threads in the front....it is called the parking method.

Oh wow! I've been monitoring your work and I am amazed -completely amazed- at the final result.

Which program did you use to convert the picture to pattern? My friend wants the Rohan flag as a cross stitch for her birthday and every program I find tends to smoosh the photo.
