I made this for iron craft and I am pretty pleased with the final result. Turns out a sheet of craft felt, folded long-ways is the same height as the glass in my new french press! I asked for a smaller one (i was brewing in an 8-cup and having to chug coffee to enjoy warm coffee....dire results) but I found, even with the smaller carafe I wasn't having time to ruminate over my brew, thus the cozy was born.
The stitch pattern was really just to try and kick-start my ill-used machine, but i really liked the look and I feel like the quilt-ness keeps it warmer....though i may be wrong.

ingredients:
1 sheet felt
3 buttons
3 hair elastics

tada!

I love the stitching. I may have to steal use that for something. And I imagine it would keep it warmer.
