So I love the frustration of quilt making.  This was supposed to be a high school graduation gift for my sister.  This is a tradition in my family, at least perpetuated by me.  My mom made one for my brother,  I made one for myself and this one for my sister.  She graduated in Spring of '08, and I finally finished it in Jan '10.  Oi.  But it was hand quilted (machine pieced) and I was a full time University student and excuses excuses excuses!

And I'm rather late posting it here.  But ANYWAY, it's very pretty and I thought I might share it.

It's a gorgeous quilt!
I love the colour scheme too.
I bet your sister loves her quilt and appreciates all the love and work that went into making it.
You are a great sister.

Honey if you hand quilt it... you get all the time in the world to finish it.

It's absolutely gorgeous!  I love the colors, and I'm sure a ton of work went into it.  Good job!

Beautiful quilt.  I am surprised that it only took you two years to finish - hand quilting is so time consuming!!  I hope your sister loves it.

One is less than three.

Thanks everyone!

The hand quilted part probably only took less than 20 hours, just spread out over 10 months.  See how the green bits kinda make circles?  I quilted interlocking circles around those guys, and you can kinda see the border quilting in the bottom left corner.

We picked out the colors and fabrics together.

Oh, I also had to make a checkerboard back, because the flannel at the store wouldn't have been wide enough to span the quilt... but I have a feeling I did some math wrong when I was working it out.  Just a little extra work.  Smiley

Amalgam: It's the first time I've done pineapple.  the book I had said I needed some sort of fancy pineapple ruler.  Never did get it.
