Hello all! First time on this board (I usually hang out in toys). So, to start with a short sad story, my mom had this dog, Toby, and like all pets, he was her best friend. He was getting up age and started to lose his hearing. One day he got out of the gate and was crossing the street to the neighbors (where the neighbor would give him treats, even though my mom had asked him not too, as to not encourage Toby to cross the street) when a teenager, ON HIS PHONE, was driving too fast and ran Toby over. Due to Toby's hearing loss, he couldn't hear the car, nor the stranger walking down the sidewalk who yelled "Look Out!" Unfortunately Toby died due to this accident. That was just a couple of months ago. My mom's birthday was last weekend and she still misses him so much, so I thought I would make her a Toby pillow, to cuddle with in bed and whatnot.
Ok, so on with the pics, right? Well, let me first just apologize for the photos, my flash on my camera died a year ago (I finally got a new camera this weekend) and the pillow just didn't fit right in my light box. But you should still get the point.

His fleece face is appliqued on to a dark periwinkle fleece. The pillow measures 16"x16".
Pillow close up-ish

I wish I had better close up pics, but like I said, my camera was just not having any of that!
Pillow back

My hubby suggested I applique Toby's rear on the back of the pillow, but I just didn't know how I was going to do that nicely (plus I was rather tired that night), so I just added a heart at the bottom.
Heart close up

I don't know how to embroider, I just winged (wang? wung?) it, but I'm pretty proud of how it turned out.
Thanks sticking with me through all that!

Oh, and I have a few pics of Mom opening it and being all teary-eyed and stuff, but she told me that if I post them ANYWHERE on the internet, I was getting NOTHING for Christmas, and even at 31 years old, that's a pretty serious threat, so you'll just have to believe me.
