I just found out there is a cooking section...so I thought I would share the cake I made my dad for his 57th birthday.

It's red velvet WASC with boiled milk frosting (you can't smooth this frosting)...the kind from his childhood...he loved it!

I searched the internet for the logos of a lot of his favorite bands printed them on cardstock and covered the cardstock with clear contact paper..i did the same for the record and knobs but i covered them in contact paper on both sides so it would be safe to sit on top of the cake. The tracking arm is fondant.

tip for smoothing the frosting. dip your long skiny frosting knife in HOT water shake off and then smooth your frosting with it. i hate working with that frosting but if you have to that is the way to do it. i dont know if it really makes sence in words but thats what i do at work when we make red velvet cake.
