Fingerless Mitts

I made these fingerless mitts for a craft exchange.



I used a mostly cotton yarn, which I know isn't ideal for mitts, but I think they turned out pretty nice. I love the color. The pattern is at: http://carissaknits.blogspot.com/2007/06/cabled-fingerless-mitts.html

Thanks for your comment. Yeah, they work up pretty quickly and they're so simple and elegant (I think) that they work really well. Keep in mind that there aren't really directions for the left-hand mitt. You just have to follow the directions for the right mitt, but in reverse for each row.

Your stitches look very nice and even!  For me that is a nearly impossible feat in cotton yarn (even with a gentle blocking). I'm sure your swap partner loved them!

Thank you for the compliment! I generally struggle a great deal with knitting cotton yarns too. This yarn has some acrylic content (25% - Red Heart Eco-Cotton Blend) and it's easier to work with. I'm not a great fan of acrylics, but I do like this yarn quite a bit and find it works pretty well for the few projects I've tried. The only other thing that helped me with this project is that I had to knit very tight to manage gauge.
