hand made hair pins

Ive been fiddling around with polymer clay lately and i thought id finally come and post some of the things ive made. i know this is kinda meant to be posted with the jewlery and trinkets, but i thought you guys would like it over here since its polymer clay so i posted it here instead.



i made the shape of the clay, and pit an indent with the pin in the back. i then baked it, painted it and sealed it with a spray finish i have had for quite a while. i then glued it to the pin with a very strong glue so it wouldnt break easily. im sorry for the dark images i had used my cell camera for the pictures.

i'd love to hear any comments or suggestions you may have about them

Thanks so much, my favourite are the pink skulls too, i wore them out the other day they held my thick hair surprisingly well

I love the pink ones too!  Are they bobbie pins on them?

Yeah, they're just normal bobby pins. i know you can get ones with a round flat spot at the end so you can glue stuff to, but my glue is really strong. i tried to break one off of a set i didn't really care for, to see it if was going to just break, and i couldn't so i don't feel i need to buy those ones. i put an indent on the back of the piece of polymer clay before i baked it(by pushing the pin into it) so the pin is a bit set in, i think that's what made it extra sturdy, rather than having a flat bottom to the piece and trying to glue it to the curved end.

They are so cute. Did use a cane to make those?

No i didnt use a cane for any of them, ive never actually made a cane before. All i did was make same size balls out of white sculpty press them flat, indent with the hair pin and bake. i then painted and glazed them before glueing them on. for the skull shaped ones i made the circles but pressed in the bottom then finished them off the same as the others.
