And for my second post here are some of the other projects I have completed so far this winter, the time of year that I do a lot of crocheting.
My Aunt is a great lady with a silly sense of humor! She asked me to make her a hat for a contest. Her brother is going to be visiting her and my uncle in a couple months and they are having an ugly hat contest. After a couple hours of searching and a couple of emails we decided on one. I won't post where my inspiration came from, as I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. Since I think they were serious about their hat, yet my aunt and I found it ugly. I changed the colors though.
Thank you to my daughter for being my model.

Then I decided my Uncle would need an ugly hat as well. And the best way to describe his sense of humor is, well, he can be a boob! So a boob hat came to mind for him. I decided to do a simple beanie/skullcap style for this. I will include some instructions, but beware, I can be longwinded. LOL

I decided to put a nipple ring as I was planning the hat. I started the hat with about 12"+ tail before I did the slip knot to start. Once I got the areola part done (I did this part in SC not DC as most Skullcap patterns call for) and finished off, I did the nipple. I made a slip knot as close to the underside of the aerola as I could and crocheted a chain of about 6 or 7, then finished it off, leaving the excess yarn, and pulled the chain up through the hole at the top of the hat, then back through being careful not to pull the chain all the way through. I wove the excess yarn on the underside to secure the nipple.
The nipple ring, I chained about 8 or 9 chain in a silver yarn again leaving a longer tail before my slip know, and then did one row of SC and finished off, leaving excess yarn at the end. I took the tails of yarn and threaded them under the nipple and into the hole at the top of the hat. Finally I tied the ends a couple times and wove the excess yarn on the underside.
I finished the hat off as one would normally do a skullcap, you can find many patterns out there. Once the hat was around an inch above my ears, I did 2 rows of 2DCTOG to kind of make it "snug" and to give it more of a boob look. This made the hat sit right at the top of my ears.

For the tattoo, I crocheted a simple heart. I don't recall which pattern I used. I sewed on the heart, and added the arrow. I wrote "mom" on the heart in a silver Sharpie, since trying to stitch it on with yarn wasn't working for me. And then my goofy sense of humor took over and I decided on doing a bikini top for the hat.

I told my uncle it was so he could wear the hat for dinner at the stuff neighbors, to places that some called for modesty, and so he wouldn't get kicked out of places with one of those "no shirt, no shoes, no service" signs. And then I just got out of control and told him if he wanted to have a "Girls Gone Wild" moment, he could pull off the bikini top, twirl it around over his head, but to also be sure to yell "woooo!"

The bikini top was just made doing a crochet in a round. I did it in the same way a normal skullcap would be started and made it round enough to cover the nipple. I added the "straps" which were 3 sets of 2 that I braided and tied at the ends.
Thank you for looking!
