So, I was trolling through ThinkGeek the other day when I stumbled across these cuties:

I truly, madly, deeply wanted a Frodo doll.  I had my finger on the buy button when, in a flash of craftyness I thought to myself, "Hey...you could make that.  And it might even be cuter. And you'll love it more, because you made it.  Also, you won't have to pay for shipping."

So, I did.

I'm ridiculously proud of him.  It's the first pattern I've ever drawn up completely by myself.  And the fact that I had enough patience to sew him those (stupidly tiny and insanely frustrating) clothes is kinda a big deal.  I'm not that patient.   Roll Eyes

CLOSE UP!!!

I absolutely love the material I found for his cloak.  It kinda changed my life.   Cheesy I used green wire for the leaf brooch, but it didn't show too well in the picture.

I'm still pretty new at this so comments and critiques are always welcome!  Smiley

I think it's supposed to be an orc.  Or a goblin? Maybe...I don't actually know.

Aww he is cute. I wouldn't have the patience to fiddle around I don't think. But good job you did. No need to feel bad about being proud about him, I would be too!

Adorable!  I love his little clothes and that sticky-up hair!  You really outdid yourself, and congrats on finishing a plushie made from your own pattern... you're right, it's so much more rewarding than buying plushies, and you love them even more<3  Grin

Friggin' adorable! Way cuter (and more personally meaningful) than a store-bought doll. See, and now you can make a Samwise to keep him company on his adventures.  Smiley

Thank you all so much for your compliments.  And I do have plans to make the other three, because you can't have just ONE hobbit!  Grin  Today is likely to be crazy-talk busy but I will have the pattern up late tonight.

It should be pretty straightforward.  As far as attaching his limbs, I just sewed them directly onto his body but you could probably joint him like a poppet.  If you have any questions just ask me and I'll be more than happy to assist.

This is amazing! I may just have to try my hand at sewing one of these guys... Never made a doll of any kind before, but he's soo adorable! Great job! And, you're right... much better than the one you can buy! I second the motion on the Samwise doll as well Smiley
