I got the pattern "Snazzy Knitting Needle Case" from Connecting Threads (actually, ordered it through KnitPicks but that doesn't matter).  Luckily, it's now a free pattern and you can find it really easily.  So far, it's been going really well. The directions are really easy to follow - even for a complete newbie sewer like myself.  I've got almost all the pockets sewn on but I'm at the end of step 18 and I'm worried there should be more to attaching the cable pouches. I followed steps 14-18 and now have three cable pouches sewn on by their bottoms (actually 6 because they're all folded in half) but because they're not sewn up the side(s) at all, they're incredibly floppy and flimsy. Can this possibly be it?!?!  I was REALLY expecting a step telling me to sew the left side of all these pockets to the lining.  Huh
I really hope this is posted in the right place and there's somebody out there that can help me.
Thank you in advance.

Well, I'm pretty anxious to finish up this first real sewing project and I think I'll continue on tomorrow night without sewing up the side of those pockets. It seems really flimsy and annoying right now but, once it's full of stuff and I fold it over to close it, it should stay secure... I'm still pretty skeptical but we'll see.

It would be easier if you took a picture of it, or provided a link to the actual thing so folks could see what you're talking about  Wink

Oh okay.  Here's the link to a picture and the pattern download.

The pockets I'm talking about are the diamond patterned ones on the right. They're only sewn onto the backing by their bottoms (and the pockets open at the left).  I will hold off one more night on continuing with the project in case anybody has a tip/idea for whether they should also be sewn up the right side or not.
