I made this with Red Heart Super Saver in Pink and used an H/5mm hook. The stitch I selected was the extended Double crochet stitch (edc). My piece came out 16 inches tall. If you use the dc stitch, it will be 13 inches high. This goes fast as it's only 24 squares x 24 squares. Of course you may use thread and a steel hook for a smaller unit.

This is a free pattern! I have also given you the link for a photo tutorial so you can learn the edc. It is not that difficult, very similar to a dc, but with an extra yarn over.

For the free pattern click here:

To view the photo slide show of the edc, click here:

I hope you enjoy this project! Please tell me what you think.

Love,
Maria

This is the pattern that I have been looking for. I even asked the woman from crochet central if she knew where a pattern for a skull doily could be located. I want to make this for a friend. I like the eyes.

I used worsted weight yarn to make this skull doily so the stitches are easy to see. The pattern is free and can be found here:

It is very sweet - if you can say that about a skull  Grin. Great work.

Thanks! I think the pink yarn makes it less scary!

This is brilliant! Perfect for Halloween crafting!

It actually goes pretty quickly as it's only 24 x 24 rows.
