I think someone should put together a swap like this.

http://1000journals.com/index.php?view=Journals%2FIndex

Ours would be less in depth and we wouldnt fill just one journal.

Like each person would buy a journal fill a page and then pass it on.. or even if they have a journal started.. ect. Then whenever someone receives a journal they will fill a page and pass it on to the next person, and until the journal comes to first person again. I think it would be a awesome idea. This would have to be something that would go on for a few months. Smiley

I wouldn't want to organize it though! I would LOVE to do something like this though!!

I did a swap like this a few years ago. It was so much fun! Sadly my final partner flaked and I never got my book back. In that regard I think just sending pages is a book idea.

I do however I prefer to work in a prebound book. And plus I sent a small novel as my journal to alter. I love seeing journaling on top of text  Cheesy

I love this idea.  I would participate.

I think sending pages is smart, that guarantees you will not lose the journal.

There is a movie called 1000journals about that project.  It's very interesting. Smiley

I was also in a swap like this and never received my book back. It was a truly awesome idea and I had so much fun working on the pages that I did for other people as everyone's journal had a specific theme to follow.

Individual pages are the way to go for this kind of swap, that way if one person falls out people don't end up not getting their journals back.

This sounds amazing! While I agree that sending out actual journals would probably be prettier, I think it's probably a lot safer to just send pages because there is that factor that someone might flake and then you get stuck with nothing. Besides having to make a cover for it and bind it makes it that much more crafty. I'd love to join this if anyone starts it. It's just the kind of swap I've been waiting for.

This sounds awesome! I would prefer sending the whole journal though because I don't know how to do binding or anything like that...

I guess there could be 2 groups - those sending a whole journal, those just sending pages? That way everybody could join in the fun! Smiley

You can glue individual pages to the pages of a journal, to notebook dividers in a three ring binder, or slide them into page protectors....

Here are a couple of sites for information:

Anyone interested in organising this?
I will at the end of February, but will gladly join if someone wants to start it sooner.

I could, except I never organized a swap before, and i am not sure how well it would go.

I would love to do this if it's induvidual pages. And there are lots of tutorials out there for easy binding. Here is a link to the bookbinding tutorial page:

i concur! sending pages is the way to go. i say make it all uniform with letter sized sheet folded in half, alter the whole thing (meaning all sides), leave 1/2 on the inner fold for binding. those who wouldn't want to bind there own could always punch holes and put it in a binder or use sheet protectors and put it in a binder/scrapbook or something similar.

also, to make it more organic i would not make it 'theme' based. let the artists choose what to do. this would be kind of like a 'circle journal' or 'round robin' in a sense without actually sending the book.

and....since you are only sending out pages it should be mandatory international. you could sign up for as many pages as you'd like to do and rec.

i'll org if need but i may need a co-org....anyone willing?

anyhow, i will pm everyone to let them know when i post ....like i said hopefully it will be tonight!
thanks for the offer of help mxer i will pm you if i need it. prob not but it always feels better to know it's there!

what does everyone think about doing it as an 'ongoing' swap kind of like the atc one? this was for those that have to wait or want to wait can join in when ever they want?
i'd have to figure out some more of the details but just wanted to put that out there before i set anything in stone.

this swaps seems like it would be soo much fun!! although im kind of intimidated by it. ive only done an inchie swap. but id love a pm when the swap starts and all the details have been figured out.  Smiley would we be doing more of an "art" journal or an every day "this is what happened today" journal? would we be sending out multiple pages to multiple people or one page per person? and i like the idea of the on going swap idea. we could possibly get more people that way.

I haven't taken part in one of those ongoing swaps, so I'm not exactly sure how it works and stuff. But if you think that would be for the best, I'm always up for it! Cheesy Also, I really like the idea of having the one sheet/four pages, even though it might get a little more time consuming... But it's actually very clever binding wise.

I myself would love to have a long crafting time, so that every detail can be attended without rushing...! Also, having multiple partners or the amount of our choice makes me want to partner with a lot of people to get the most awesome journal ever. I want sign ups! Grin And obviously, everyone having their own themes sounds just wonderful!

Yeah, those would be much easier to bind together and you wouldn't have to fill so much space... I'm actually now quite intrigued by that idea even though I was kinda thinking of a full scale binded journal Cheesy Though, I like that idea, now I just need to figure out how would it look with blank pages for me to fill...

How about if we had a limit on the sizes of the pages, but everyone could pick their own size/shape as long as they're within the limits? Might get a bit complicated.

i agree that smaller pages would be easier to fill. maybe a half sheet of paper folded? only alter one side (essentially two pages). the person rec'ing could either glue the blank sides together or alter the other sides themselves?
i am still leaning towards a "ongoing" where you could claim up to five at a time. once a page is rec'd you could claim another.
i have the questionairre all set to go. just trying to figure out the least confusing way to do this...

meet your scatterbrained organizer--curiousfae!!!!

oh yeah, i think it would be more like an art journal but that's not to say it can't be written either. i think a little of both would be cool actually.

Just sent my info! I think I might have to do some stalking before I actually claim anyone, just to be sure that I understand the process.

I'm sorry if this was already mentioned and I missed it, but does each person have a theme for the journal I will be crafting according to?

Also, on another note, I need to go buy some new paper. The sheets I usually use are slightly too narrow (and also too long, for that matter)... Oh, and could we use colored, textured or otherwise different paper or would we be sticking with white for consistency?

any media is fine and by that i mean textured paper, card-stock, newsprint, ect. as long as it can be bound and meets the size requirement than it's a 'go'! there are no set 'theme' ideas but i see that people are putting ideas of what they would like and i think that is a great idea. it gives us something to think about while crafting if we don't have any ideas. but it is not required nor does it have to be adhered to.
don't worry about making something that someone will like. this is really a 'peek' at what you would do for yourself and you are just sharing it with your partner. that is really what a journal is all about.
