Ok, so I like jumpsuits and am glad they're coming back because now I won't have to go hunting up a shirt that mysteriously walked off on laundry day to go with some pants, lol.

So I saw this one by Marc Jacobs that's a bit hippy-ish
http://www.bergdorfgoodman.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod62880003&parentId=cat20056&masterId=cat30005&index=3&cmCat=cat000000cat000002cat000008cat30005cat20056

and one at ASOS
http://us.asos.com/ASOS-ASOS-Tailored-Silk-Open-Back-Jumpsuit/so2pl/?iid=893117&SearchQuery=jumpsuit&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=-1&sort=-1&clr=Mink&mporgp=L0Fzb3MvQXNvcy1UYWlsb3JlZC1TaWxrLU9wZW4tQmFjay1KdW1wc3VpdC9Qcm9kLw..

and now I just really want one, lol.

I thought it might be fun for everyone to do their own jumpsuit based off one that they liked, and we all have a little sew along.

Anyone  Huh  Smiley

Right on!  I'm thinking of drafting a pattern for that first one but a bit different in the front I just couldn't imagine being out at the store and going to pick up my toddler and...well, you get the idea, it just needs to be higher in the top for me  Cheesy

Do you a a photo of what your aiming for?

I'm still hunting for the perfect fabric, go figure I don't actually have any awesome large quantity of fabric at the moment, lol.

I'm going to start drafting today though, I've got a great section in one of my books on culottes I'm going to use as the bottom. I like the skirt look but usually wear slacks, no worries with chasing the toddler or doing cartwheels then  Smiley since we're doing up a jumpsuit I can pull off the oversize skirty looking leg.

I do yes:

I have a very similiar vintage fabric which would be very ideal for the above one.

http://www.boohoo.com/jumpsuits/kenna-sequin-bodice-jumpsuit/invt/azz80081?_lm_esp=14-89-641

and then theres this one, i think this would possibly be easiest to have a go at, the arms of the first one look a bit advanced for me!

Both of those are nice, the sleeves on the first look like regular sleeves that have a gathering vertically, 2 easy lines of stitches and a tug and you're there.  If I was on my computer at the mo I'd draw it out  Smiley

I'm still hunting a fabric, I'm hoping to find something this weekend there is a store out at the flea that has some vintage fabric, it will be Sunday I think, Saturday is help Dave's mom and sis move to their new house day, fun fun!  In the meantime I'm hunting ebay too, never know what you'll find there, lol.

Oh that's nice, I actually used to have a short jumpsuit in a similar print but maroon   Smiley  Oooh Sunday needs to hurry up and get here, I'd rather be crafting than working, lol.  Not that I don't love my new biz development position but still, there is something special about the sound of the sewing machine at full speed up a long seam!

Any chance the jumpsuit along is still going on?  I've been recruited to make a silver jumpsuit for a science play and my goal is to finish it by next Friday.  (That way if I'm a few days late I'll still be on time in the end).  When I'm done with my project do I post here?  Or somewhere else?  Are all these jumpsuits done and I'm missing them?  I'm a craftster newbie so let me know if I've oopsed?

I haven't started yet,  I still haven't found a fabric I like enough that will also breathe well here in Florida, I might end up just going with a bamboo jersey in a solid at this point  Grin

OK. At nearly 8 months pregnant I have to ask... How in the world do you wear this all day? Do you have to get completely undressed in a public restroom just to pee? The look is nice, but I'm just a bit concerned...

I definitely have plans to make a couple of jumpsuits for the baby. I know it's not hard at all to add snaps at the crotch for her, but would that be practical in an adult version? I would think re-snapping it would be a bit like playing Twister...

Yeah, there's no snaps for us just whatever buttons, zips or whatever are on the top portion.  I practically lived in a jumpsuit that had straps (so I wore a tee under it) when I was pregnant with my second child that one was made out of jersey though so it was just a pull down which was quick and efficient when running to the potty all the time.  Grin

I'm in!
As soon as I manage to finish off my patchwork skirt, I want to try my hand at these. I have a couple different fabrics set aside for just this project!

kahlans-mommy: check out the links earlier in this post to violentjayne's jumpers. She has an ingenious butt-flap that is completely functional yet invisible! I want to figure out how to do that and incorporate it.

ok, I posted this on the thread with violentjayne's tut, but here is my completed jumper, first attempt:

I used a very lightweight cotton jersey that is darker than what the picture shows. It has a slight burnout effect throughout as well as some very dark (almost black) slubs. It's FAB-U-LOUS!
It's entirely work-appropriate, and I have gotten a lot of compliments as well as a couple requests to make them for the girls at work. Everyone loves the jumper look, but they are not exactly practical for tiny office stall-bathroom breaks, if you know what I mean...
That butt-flap is the best thing ever!

I made my top larger than violentjayne's to hide my belly a bit, and took out the ruching at the hips. I know that helps pull the butt-flap a bit snugger, but it also makes the pants cling to all the wrong spots on me.
I want to make many more! I have a gorgeous piece of fabric here to make a strapless capri-length one out of, and I think that will be next...
Still working on the patchwork skirt sew-along, as well as an angel package & a couple custom orders for crochet...ugh! Blankets in this weather suck!
