I've had an obsession with Nyan Cat for a while now...so I decided to make myself this headband.
Since I'm a new member, I can only give you this link to a picture:
It's pretty simple to make. Cut a piece of cross-stitch material which is long enough to go around your head (or the visible part of it) and wide enough to be doubled and still fit an elastic.
The rainbow is cross-stich embroidery - embroider 2 lines of each colour in the middle lines of your cloth so you still have white space on either side of the rainbow. But leave a space in the middle of your cloth about 3 inches long for the cat, wherever you want the cat to sit on your head. So basically you have a rainbow with a break in the middle. The original nyan cat has a purple stripe too, but I didn't have time to make that ^_^
When you're done embroidering, fold the white parts in and sew them to each other so there is a space between them. Run an elastic through (make sure you MEASURE it to fit your head) and sew the ends of the elastic together. The cat will come on after.
To make the cat, sew two grey circles together at the edges, but before you go all the way around, flip the circles inside out. Stuff it with cotton if you want it to be hard, and sew it together. This is the head. Embroider the face, and roll up scraps of gray material for the ears. You can use the same tactic to make the legs and tail since they're so skinny. Use brown material to make the body the same way you made the head, then stitch pink material on it so it almost
covers one end. Embroider dark pink dots onto the pink.
Finally, sew your cat onto your headband and enjoy!
It's not very well explained, but you're smart people, I'm sure you'll get it
