after much deliberation, we decided to try a beach house for Santa Smiley
the front:

the back:

this was my second attempt at a gingerbread recipe, since my first attempt left my pieces crumbling after the first attempt.  we tried the butterscotch in the windows, although it's hard to see since the pictures are a bit dark.
my fiance came up with the idea for bubble-gum siding (the roll-out kind), and we used life cereal for roof tiles.  the back "porch" is pretzel sticks, and the bench and lounge chair (and shark!) are graham crackers contributed by friends of the family.  we used royal icing and brown sugar for the sand/dune, and mini-marshmallows on blue royal icing for the sea/surf.  we had so much fun putting it together, and considering it survived a 60 mile trip in the car between steps, we're now calling it "indestructible" Smiley

here's a slightly brighter shot before the siding went on:

thanks for looking!

I really love this idea! Santa's beach house.. cool.. The water and the sand look awesome... brown sugar worked really well.  I think the water detail is really well done, it's very effective ... I am also fully digging the shark.
