Our winning entry was created by Nicoleeoliee_4_Life! The entry titled, ““Imma grape” Dress suit to epic-ness,” is an absolutely jaw-dropping creation that started as a jacket and dress and ended as a gorgeous detailed formal dress.

We're at it again!  We're bringing back Super Ugly to Super Awesome for... Round 3!  For a blast from the past, check out Round 2 and Round 1 of Super Ugly to Super Awesome.

Your challenge this month is to spend $20 or less at a thrift store and buy something super ugly, tacky or otherwise abominable and revamp it into something totally awesome.  You must take pictures of the item in its original state, so we can see both the before and the after.  Your purchase can be a piece of artwork, clothing, figurine, statue, platter, furniture -- whatever!  You decide.  You can purchase more than one item at the thrift store as long as your total is $20 or less, and your items somehow come together in the same theme of the project.  If you're not located in the U.S., you can spend the equivalent of $20 USD in your own currency.

Rules:

• Craft your project during this challenge period (Jan 10 - Feb 8 2011) only.  Projects created before this timeframe will not be removed from the entry board, but they will be excluded from the voting poll.
• Post your craft during the period of Feb 1 - Feb 8 2011.  No sooner.  No later.  On Feb 1 2011 there will be a special folder created for entries.
• Voting will happen from Feb 9 - Feb 16 2011.
• Enter only ONE project.  Your entry can have multiple components to it.

Originality:

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original, has never been posted on Craftster, or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, please give credit to that project.

At the end, I'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner (US or non-US) will get:

(1) their project in the Featured Projects area
(2) their project in the Craftster Blog
(3) and a prize from us at Craftster.org -- any one item from one of Craftster's online shops!

Not for this particular challenge.  Part of this challenge is hunting for hideous!

Your main/ugly item should be from the thrift store, but additional supplies can be from your stash, from other stores, etc.  Additional supplies do not need to be included in your total cost.

I love the thrift store!!  I am going to have to make a trip out to our local Sally and see what goodies my Good Will hunting will uncover   (Ok.. I can't take credit for the good will hunting pun.. my brother said it years ago and it's been floating around in my head for an appropriate time to use it lol)

So I picked up some serious ugly in preparation for this challenge, and I've got a few different ideas already.

Just one question are we meant to be remaking it into something else, or revamping it to a more pleasing version of its current state? or does it not matter either way?

Entirely your choice!  Don't forget to take a picture of ugly in its original state.

Oh yes! I am going to make the item I planned to make for the LAST Ugly to Awesome, had already bought the ugly materials for . . .  and still haven't started. (Has it really been a year? )

I'm kind of new to craftster and I was wondering where to post my creation for this challenge. Do I just post it as I would anything else or is there a special spot I post it and do I have to have a certain title for the post? What do I do?

I took a trip into the big city this weekend and searched for some fantastically ugly stuff that I could pretty up. There were slim pickin's this time around but I did manage to grab something that I think will work really well. There's an idea bouncing about my little head so I'm crossing my fingers that I can make something nifty
